Variable rate solids application can now be performed by agricultural aircraft with the Travicar Electric Gatebox, an innovation developed to automatically adjust the box opening and flow rate during flight.
Integrated with the application map, the equipment provides real-time flow control, allowing the aircraft to work with different rates in the same operation. For example, it can apply 30 kg in one area, 50 kg in another, and 100 or 150 kg where that recommendation is required.
By adjusting the flow rate according to each area recommendation, the Electric Gatebox applies the programmed dose at each point, preventing the entire field from receiving a single amount of product.
With the Electric Gatebox, the agricultural aircraft can perform variable rate solids applications while the equipment automatically controls the box opening and adjusts the flow rate in real time, according to the application map.
Precision agriculture uses area-specific information to guide input application. Variable rate, previously used mainly in ground applications, is now also available in agricultural aviation.
The Electric Gatebox brings this capability to aerial solids application, allowing the aircraft to follow the different recommendations defined in the map.
It means applying the right dose in each area.

The operation begins with a map created from soil analysis, indicating the recommended amount of product for each area of the field.

The file is sent to the system installed in the agricultural aircraft, which uses this information to guide the application.

During aerial application, the Electric Gatebox opens, closes, and adjusts the flow rate according to the dose programmed for each polygon.

The agricultural aircraft can apply different amounts of solids in a single operation, without maintaining the same flow rate across the entire area.

R: Yes. The aircraft can change the flow rate during application, working with different product amounts in the same operation.
R: The map contains the recommended doses for each area and is sent to the Travicar system installed on the aircraft. During flight, this information guides the Gatebox adjustments.
R: During variable rate operation, opening, closing, and flow rate adjustments are performed automatically by the equipment, according to the map.
